Last Week of September 2013
As the last night of Techniche got over and we evacuated the mini auditorium and went to the Food Stalls who were packing up their stuffs and selling their product at much reduced price while some of them were giving it for free to the Team, I was sitting inside the deserted stall which was located just opposite to the Food Stalls facing towards the lake which was earlier occupied by the Indian Army Guys with Shubham Bhaiya and together with me was Bengani and some other 2nd year guys. Shubham bhaiya was about to “Quit Smoking” along with Kushal Bhaiya and Khatri. He reserved three smokes so that he could have it with them at exactly at 2 AM and finally say good bye to this bad habit. [A small heads up to the story: Kushal Bhaiya and Khatri weren’t able to quit smoking but Shubham bhaiya is still going strong]
This is for all the people in this picture (some of them are
missing as we are like the Great Indian Family, where few of the members always
miss out to be in the Group Photo)

Having his penultimate smoke, he asked, Piyush, how was
Techniche? I wasn’t able to answer. Should I talk to him about all those deals
which got cancelled and made me overcome frustrations quickly or Should I talk
to him about all the deals which I got and the happiness when you see you
sponsor’s logo on every banners and every posters or Should I talk to him about
the bonding that I developed with my teammates over the year which made us know
each other better or Should I talk to him about all the hugs just after the
Night got over. I wish this question would have come in my HSS paper so that I
could write a LONG answer to this one including the supplementary sheets and
can at least be confirmed of “AA” in that paper. I smiled and passed that
question to Bengani, as we share the same first name, it was hardly a surprise
that the question won’t go to him.
Shubham Bhaiya exhaled a long breathe taking out all the
smoke from his mouth and said, you know what, “Techniche Core Team ki hoti hai. It isn’t that much for the 2nd
years, as they are new and their most of the work is to take orders and
certainly not for the Heads. Agar Techniche acha hota hai, it is the Core Team
and agar bura hota hai, that is the Core Team + Heads. Heads are just the face
of Techniche, Core Team is the arms, the legs, the BRAIN and the HEART of
Techniche.”
In other words, what he tried saying was that, “Techniche is
by the CORE TEAM, of the CORE TEAM and for IIT Guwahati”
It is your chance to be the Architect of the Festival. Put
in your efforts and you’ll see your ideas getting materialized and you can have
Techniche your way.
And there is nothing more satisfying and soothing than to
see your ideas getting shaped into reality and this stays with you throughout
your Life.

Later that day, I was walking to the Hostel with Nikunj
Bhaiya and Bengani. On the way Bengani said a wonderful thing, “Knowing what I've experienced, agar main aaj
core team mein nahi rehta toh I’d have regretted a lot. But agar main core team
mein nahi rehta toh I’d have never known what I've lost and then I’d have not
felt that.”
Life is all about the choices that we make.
“We may not meet each other very frequently during this
semester and the coming semesters. We may not even see each other once we pass
out from College but somewhere down the line, in our lives, we are bounded,
We are bounded by these two words, “Jai Techniche”
